In February half term, families from across Sussex joined us for the very first Fun French Town Quest. Sessions filled up. People were surprised by all the French connections - and all that Newhaven has to offer! The VR finale at the port was a hit - as was the warm, calm passenger lounge. Everyone left talking about the ferry which was just a step away!

"You've inspired [my son] to visit France! We both enjoyed it. Well done." (BB, Feb26)

*As featured on Newhaven Port's blog here.*

Well, we're back for an Easter edition — with a special seasonal surprise along the route.

What happens?

Starting at the Tourist Information Centre, families follow a trail of clues from town to beach, from port to fort - discovering the surprising French connections hiding in plain sight around Newhaven.

It's outdoors, playful, and led by Julia Vogado, local language tutor and founder of All Abroad! Bus.

French words and phrases crop up naturally along the way. No prior knowledge needed.

The finale takes place inside Newhaven Ferry Port's passenger lounge — VR headsets on, and suddenly you're in Dieppe. The harbour, the market, the streets. One minute you're in Newhaven, the next in France.

Morning sessions also include watching the 10.30am ferry depart from West Quay.

"A fun and instructive way to occupy an enjoyable couple of hours of half term.  Our guide Julia put everyone at ease and connected brilliantly with the kids." (HH, Feb26)

"Julia gave the children a fabulous tour, searching for clues in Newhaven to the connections to France.

The children learnt new words, and understood the international links, with even one connection to Vietnam!

A yummy French treat was definitely a highlight, but overall a fantastic tour." (KW, Feb26)
